William "Roy” Barker, 79, of Wellington, MO. passed away June 5, 2021 at CenterPoint Hospital, Independence. MO. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the Wellington-Napoleon Funeral Home. Visitation from 12:00 to 2:00 prior to service. Burial in Lexington Memory Gardens. Memorial Contributions: Boy Scouts Troupe 713 or Wellington-Napoleon Fire Protection District.
Roy was born May 23, 1942, in Council Bluffs, Iowa son of Charles and Phyllis(Barnes) Barker. Graduated in Class of1960 from Wellington-Napoleon. He married Sharon (Seek) on June 24, 1966 in Lexington. Served in the National Guard 1964 – 1970. Volunteered for Wellington-Napoleon Fire Department, Volunteered EMT for Wellington-Napoleon Ambulance Service, Lions Club President-Wellington-Napoleon Fair Board, worked with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts while his sons were active. Both are Eagle Scouts. He was a camp Scout Master at the Boy Scout Camp in Osceola, MO.
He was currently part of Masonic Lodge in Lexington, Wellington American Legion, Methodist Church, Honorary Member of Mic-o-say. He retired from Ford Motor Co. in 2006 with 38years-service, Wellington City Council. Roy loved to fish and hunt and spend time with his family. Loved to tease his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grand-parents and a great nephew Collin Riley Dieckmann.
He is survived by his Wife Sharon of the home, Sons Randy, Kansas City, MO. Scott (Jena) of Blue Springs, MO. and Daughter Linda Barker of Marysville, Ohio. Daughter in-law Pam of Wellington, MO. 9Grandchildren: Bryant (Megan), Leanna, Sara, Cody-Katherine (Leanna), Cole(Haley), Presley, Talon, Lane and Scott Jr. 8 Great-Grandchildren: Evan, Chester, Otto, Enda, Nemo, Kian, William and Phillip. Sisters: Diana Mansell and Donna (James) Payne. Brother-in-law George (Connie)Seek. Many Nephews, Nieces and Friends.
