Richard Leon Peterson, 60, of Wellington, MO. passed away October 12, 2020 in Research Medical Center Hospital of Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October17, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. in St Luke Evangelical Free Church, Wellington, MO. Visitation will be Friday October 16, 2020 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Community Christian Center, 710 MO-224 Wellington, MO. Masks and Social Distancing. Richard was born June 10,1960, son of Daniel Judson and Stella Mae (Huffman) Peterson in Richmond, MO. He graduated from Wellington-Napoleon High School in 1978. Remained in the Wellington area all his life was employed by the City of Wellington, was the Mayor of Wellington for 20+years, and was a member of the Lions Club, EMT. And Fire Department of Wellington.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Randy G. Peterson. He is survived by Norma “Jean” Perry of the home. Three daughters: Angela E. (Jacob) McMullin), Mary E.(Matthew) Farina, Misty M. Gorosso all of Lexington, MO. Three sons: Richard L.(Megen) Peterson, Jr. of Higginsville, MO. James A. (Patrice) Perry, Georgia, Kellen T. (Tara) Perry of St. Joseph, MO. Brothers: Daniel E. Peterson, Oklahoma, David W. (Debra) Peterson, John R. (Joyce) Peterson of Wellington, MO. Sisters: Beverly A. (Daniel) Patton Ark City, Kansas. Lesa G. (Shawn)Duensing, Warrensburg, MO. Twenty Grand Children, 13 Great Grandchildren. Many Nieces and Nephews.
