Carol June Ann Lohsandt, 80, of Wellington, MO. passed away peacefully, with her loving family by her side on Monday, October 14, 2024. Carol was born June 9, 1944, in Lexington, MO., to Arvil Ernest Homfeld and Alice June Tempel Homfeld. Carol grew up on the family farm on Lick Fork Road in rural Lexington, MO and attended Burns School in rural Lexington until the 8th grade. She completed her education at Lexington High School, Lexington, MO.
Carol was united in marriage to Richard Otto Lohsandt of Wellington, MO., on June 2, 1963, and began their married life in Blue Springs, MO. In 1969 they moved to Napoleon, MO and in 1980 they built their house on what became the family farm in rural Wellington, MO where they spent the remainder of life together watching their family grow with marriages, grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
Carol was a member St. Paul’s Church Napoleon, MO. where she sang in the church choir and was active in the Women’s Fellowship and Young at Heart adult groups. For many years, Carol loved babysitting children in the Blue Springs, Napoleon, Wellington and surrounding communities. Carol also enjoyed being active in the community as a member of the Nap-Well Homemakers Club, a 4-H leader, working in the County Collector’s office, the Wellington Market and the Pink Panther restaurant in Wellington, MO. She enjoyed life as a homemaker on the family farm where she loved to sew, working in her garden and growing beautiful flowers. Her love for family and friends was evident in her joy of fixing and sharing food, desserts and favorite dishes.
Carol is survived by her son James (Diane) Lohsandt of Wellington, MO., daughter Linda (Bob) Florence of Lexington, MO., son Charles Lohsandt of Sioux Falls, SD., and daughter Sandra (Devin) Lundquist of Odessa, MO.; seven grandchildren, Dr. Dalton (Kelly) Lohsandt, Mikayla Lohsandt, Bethanie Florence, Brenton Florence, Austin Lohsandt, Konnar Lundquist, Elyssa Lundquist; one great grandchild, Reagan Lohsandt; 3 brothers Lester (Mary) Homfeld of Higginsville, MO., Larry Homfeld of Higginsville, MO., Roger (Carol) Homfeld of Higginsville, MO., 2 sisters Ruth (Allen) Lohsandt of Wellington, MO., Helen (Albert) Ryun of Mayview, MO., and one sister-in-law, Janis Winkler of Independence, MO.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Richard Lohsandt, her parents Arvil and Alice June Homfeld and brother-in-law, Randall Winkler.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the St. Paul Cemetery Fund, St. Paul Church, Napoleon, MO.
